“World Water Day, on 22 March every year, is about taking action to tackle the water crisis. Today, 1.8 billion people use a source of drinking water contaminated with faeces, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio.

The Sustainable Development Goals, launched in 2015, include a target to ensure everyone has access to safe water by 2030, making water a key issue in the fight to eradicate extreme poverty. In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly officially designated March 22 as World Water Day. World Water Day is coordinated by UN-Water in collaboration with governments and partners.” (http://www.unwater.org/global-engagement-world-water-day-2017/)

Activities with HealthEDU project beneficiaries for World Water Day:

Presentation with open questions, games, paintings, crafts and experiments were the main activities due to raise children knowledge about water, its usefulness and relevancy, main features and reactions. Children draw the amount of water in human body, made crafts of water drop, experiments with water (floating or sinking vegetables and fruits, melting sweets, mixing colorful liquids, etc.).

World Health Day on 7th of April is one of series of events to maintain a high-profile focus on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by World Health Organization (WHO).

“WHO was founded on the principle that all people should be able to realize their right to the highest possible level of health. Therefore “Health for all” has been guiding vision of WHO for more than seven decades.

World leaders agreed the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and commit to concrete steps to advance the health of all people. This means ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access essential quality health services without facing financial hardship.” (Based on: https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-health-day/2018/campaign-essentials/en/)

As health is a lot related with nutrition, on HealthEDU activities children learnt or remembered (depends on children age) about food pyramid, drew or made it from different things (press cuttings, pictures, real food, tools), also implemented the dramatization of the healthy version of "Hansel and Gretel" in some kindergartens.

“Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates World Food Day each year on 16 October to commemorate the founding of the Organization in 1945. Events are organized in over 150 countries and these events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. World Food Day is a chance to show commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 – to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030. It’s also a day for us to celebrate the progress we have already made towards reaching #ZeroHunger.”
